Record group 81-54 consists of a register of dental hygienists, from the Michigan Dept. of Licensing and Regulation, Board of Dentistry for the years 1919-1965. Consists of names, ages, and nativity of dental hygienists licensed in the state of Michigan, as well as listings of colleges and universities where the hygienists obtained their educational training. Also included are notations on nativity, name change due to marriage, address, and an account of the date when each hygienist either passed the board examination or had his license revoked.

Act 122, PA 1939 provided for, among other things, the regulation of the practice of dentistry, dental surgery and dental hygiene by the Michigan Board of Dentistry. The Board is responsible for the examination, licensing, registration and determination of penalties for violations of the act. Another provision of this act calls for the registration by the licensed dentist and dental hygienist with the county clerk of the county where they will practice. From the description of [Recor...
